This was my first time to Canada and I must say that I had an enjoyable stay. I was a little worried because I was going to a place I have never been but it was recommended by a friend. It is a beautiful hotel which has been renovated. The room and bathroom were very clean. I must admit that Halifax is a little expensive but the hotel is in walking distance from many restaurants and stores. There is also a drug store close by and one that is open 24/7. Downtown is not too far from the Lord Nelson. There is a variety of food from Turkish to Indian. The hotel food was also very good. I order room service for breakfast everyday. And the staff was extremely friendly. I wish there was a microwave and a refridgertor in the hotel so that I didnt have to throw out food after paying money for it at a restaurant but that was not an option. This to me is an essential ammenity. Parking was the only thing I had a problem with as it was $20 a day. The Canadian dollar is par the US. I felt like if I am staying at a hotel and paying for a rental why should I pay for parking. Other than that I had a beautiful view of the garden. I didnt use the internet services or gym so I can speak of that but I had an enjoyable experience and I would stay there again.

Would definately stay here again. Very comfortable after the renovations and the staff was very heloful. Only downside was that I could hear my neighbors However, I have stayed there many times and that only happened once. Maybe they were just unusually loud.

it would seem from earlier comments that they have refurbished this hotel and they've done a beautiful job-- classically elegant and impressive. Staff was very accomodating and the place was well-maintained. Mid-city location means a bit farther from the waterfront than we'd expected (about 10 blocks UPHILL coming back) but on the other hand across the street from the Citadel and the Public Gardens so a bonus location for those interested in those sites.

Very nice hotel with no complaints from this couple. Coin laundry down the hall was a nice & needed surprise. Ethernet DSL hook-up in room was just fine. We would have preferred windows that open but we survived the very good HVAC. The Public Gardens across the street will never be topped for a location.
